Animorigami (2011) is a interactive wall-mounted relief that employs a range of custom open source hardware technologies along with motors, a sensor and raw, found, recycled materials to activate the movement of a paper origami crane, thereby simulating aspects of a real crane’s movements in the air. The object is still until being activated by the presence of a viewer. Kazemzadeh used this example within his robotics courses to exemplify how robotics projects does not require expensive parts, but could be prototyped very inexpensively by hand using cardboard, paper, recycled materials and found objects.
